I Tested the Most Popular Vitamin C Face Serums & Chose the Best One!

It is time for a great test of face serums. I used each of the contestants for a min. two weeks and that’s why it took me so long to write this post. During each treatment I was writing down all the pros and cons of each product. I’ll share the gist of my notes today. I’m sure this guide will be useful and help you choose the right facial serum. Keep reading!

What product features did I take into account?

I wanted to test the most popular best-selling serums and I asked you for suggestions. This is how 5 products got to my list. While reviewing them, I paid attention to instant as well as long-term effects (obviously some take more time than two weeks to appear). The used form of vitamin C was important too. The price and size were the last criteria. See which of the popular serums proved best and which one I rate the most highly.

Best-Selling Vitamin C Face Serums

Nanoil Vitamin C Face Serum

My rating: 10/10

Nanoil Vitamin C Face Serum

Nanoil Vitamin C Face Serum is the only serum that scored a 10/10! To me it has no flaws. First of all, it has the best type of vitamin C, which is a mild and highly-effective Ethyl Ascorbic Acid. After the very first application, my skin felt deeply moisturized, nourished and way smoother. Day by day it worked by smoothing the fine lines and greatly lightening discoloration. Beyond that, Nanoil is also rich in a potent antioxidant, which is why the serum promotes cell renewal and delays the aging process. I like its consistency too. It’s light-textured and sinks super fast. I use my Nanoil Vitamin C Face Serum both morning and evening. It is one of the largest-sized serums I’ve tested (it has 50 ml). Thankfully, the price is fine despite the big bottle.

Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum

My rating: 9/10

This product is on a par with my number one except it has one big flaw that I’ll mention later. As far as the formula goes, the serum is enriched with hyaluronic acid which brilliantly hydrates the skin. Vitamin C and collagen, on the other hand, work by brightening the hyperpigmentation and reducing wrinkles. I’ve spotted that, really. Mario Badescu Vitamin C Serum has a light consistency and sinks in well. I used it morning and evening, and ran out of it quickly because it comes in a 29-ml bottle, and the price is really high. I’m not planning on buying it again, considering that Nanoil is way more budget-friendly.

La Roche Posay Pure Vitamin C

My rating: 8/10

I’ve been using La Roche-Posay products for years. I came across this serum quite recently and I knew it would click with my skin right away. The formula includes a pure form of vitamin C which, sadly, may irritate some skins. I’ve found a solution, though! La Roche Posay Pure Vitamin C caused redness and reactions when I used it twice a day, but it had a really nice effect when I applied it just from time to time. It made my skin look healthy and radiant. The great thing is La Roche Posay Pure Vitamin C lightens discolored complexion and gradually evens the skin tone. This serum also has a light consistency which doesn’t leave a sticky coating. It comes in a 30-ml bottle and the price isn’t exorbitant.

Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop

My rating: 7/10

It is a brilliant option for everyone who likes botanical extracts in skincare products so I’m a fan of it. Next to pure vitamin C, Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop Serum contains extracts from tiger grass, lotus flower, peony and yuzu. The ingredient list is quite long but none of the components gave me allergic reactions. The product focuses on smoothing the skin intensively and improving the skin tone. Additionally, it moisturizes and nourishes in a short time. I like to use it before sleep or on days when I don’t wear make-up because it tends to leave a sticky layer on the face. This problem is fixed when I mix Klairs Freshly Juiced Vitamin Drop with a moisturizer. I recommend it also for a 35-ml bottle, convenient packaging and good price.

It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VC Effector

My rating: 5.5/10

This product contains a vitamin C derivative which has an antibacterial effect. That’s why I mostly recommend it to all acne sufferers. It’s Skin Power 10 Formula VC Effector kept my skin from breaking out so it’s a great option in emergencies. It didn’t do much else but I wanted to post its review because it’s one of the best-sellers. It is a pretty good brightening and hydrating serum but that’s all. It didn’t lessen my face lines or give a nicer skin tone. Maybe I should have used it for longer. To be honest I didn’t feel like it. I bought a 30-ml version. There are also 60-ml bottles available.

As you can see, almost each of the best-sellers works brilliantly on my skin. It is hard to find a perfect beauty item but Nanoil serum is the closest to this title. That’s why I still use it – almost every day – and to me it works best.

Why don’t you share your favorite face serums? I’d love to know them. ♥
