I Test & Choose the Best Serum for Face Redness & Broken Capillaries

In today’s post, I’d like to tell you how to care for redness-prone, sensitive skin and how to handle broken capillaries. You need to make conscious skincare choices to tackle such problems and make it look better. It may sound complicated at first but, believe me, it’s just a few simple rules to follow. I’ll also write about the best face serums I’ve tested and love dearly. <3

What are the characteristics of couperose-prone skin?

You can recognize it easily because it’s much different from most skin types. Most of all, it’s red and blushed nearly all the time, plus there are so-called spidery veins on its surface, which are dilated capillaries visible on the face. Such skin is very thin and can get worse from simple things like weather, physical activity, spicy food or cigarettes. I had been failing to improve my couperose-prone skin until I added a face serum to my daily skincare routine.

How to care for couperose-prone skin?

I’ll round up some rules that I stick to every single day. Obviously, using a suitable serum does matter, but if you have bad habits, then it all goes in vain. Here are the rules:

  • choose only mild skincare products
  • avoid the following cosmetic ingredients: SLS, ethyl alcohol, acetone, parabens and fragrance substances
  • pick products that are rich in botanical extracts, for example Buckeye, Ginkgo, Algae and Vitamin C and E
  • use SPF50 moisturizer every single day
  • while removing make-up, don’t rub the skin too harshly
  • choose only products suited to skin which is prone to dilated capillaries and redness

I’ve tested many products and chosen the best face serum for sensitive skin and spider veins. It’s called:

NANOIL ANTI-REDNESS FACE SERUM

NANOIL ANTI-REDNESS FACE SERUM

It’s another product by Nanoil that proves heaven for my skin. First, let me focus on the formula because this is what makes the serum work. It’s a short list of ingredients – free of parabens or synthetic pigments. There are four botanicals that play the first fiddle: Cypress Cone Extract, Linden Extract, Punarnava Extract and Buckeye Extract. They’re boosted by skin-hydrating Propylene Glycol, and Lecithin. The Nanoil Serum immediately reduced redness and relieved my skin, and took regular application to make spider veins and flareups diminish. They’re barely there now. I love it that my face stopped going red. It’s stronger and no longer sensitive to the outside aggressors. The added antioxidant-rich plant gives an extra rejuvenating effect. The bottle has a convenient dropper for super-easy use. The serum is light as air and I never feel its weight on my face. I like to use it even twice a day. It camouflages redness in the morning and strongly repairs the skin at night. I think the price is very attractive plus the bottle lasts me very long (50 ml).

Other effective serums for redness-prone, sensitive skin

Pai Instant Calm Aster Maritime & Avoine Byzantine

The Pai Instant Calm Aster Maritime & Avoine Byzantine doesn’t have a typical dropper applicator. It’s applied using a pump. It has a short list of components that are natural – aster and wild oat are the key ingredients. The serum soothes and moisturizes red skin right off. After using it regularly for some time, I noticed the face got more radiant while spider veins and redness were fading. Unfortunately, there’s one thing I didn’t like about it. After all, Nanoil got to the top for a reason. Though the Pai Instant Calm Aster Maritime & Avoine Byzantine has a light consistency, it sinks in very slowly, and often leaves a sticky coating on the face. That’s why I used it only before sleep.

Origins Dr. Weil Mega-Mushroom Skin Relief Advanced Face Serum

Origins is another brand that I rate. I didn’t like this serum at first because of the overwhelming scent but I got used to it quickly. The formula holds many natural ingredients, including the Reishi Mushrooms which definitely caught my eye – they’re meant to reduce redness, inflammation and hyperpigmentation, and that’s the effect I spotted on my skin. Beyond that, it’s a deeply-moisturizing serum so I recommend it if your skin is dry. The price depends on the size you choose because there are three to pick from: 30, 50 and 100 ml. I chose the mid one for a start.

Dior Capture Youth Redness Soother

It was my first product by Dior. Tbh, I chose it for the lovely color of the bottle, the brand’s reputation and promises on the official site that the product would work brilliantly. Too bad I can’t agree. I can’t say it doesn’t work well because it does brighten dark spots, lessen spider veins and reduce redness, but that’s all. I expected more from such a costly item. It’s easy to use and comes in a bottle that has lasted me long, but I’m not going to buy it again. However, I recommend testing it if the price isn’t a turn-off.

La Roche Posay Rosaliac AR Intense

Here’s the cheapest item in today’s ranking. The serum by La Roche-Posay has a good price and large volume. It’s widely available too. It has a different texture from the other serums I’ve tried. It’s gel-like and applied with a pump applicator. Too bad we can’t see how much of the product is left. I like the lack of scent because it’s more gentle on sensitive skin. When it comes to effects, they take lots of time to appear, and they’re not spectacular. The skin becomes more resistant to external conditions and irritations. Sadly, the La Roche Posay Rosaliac AR Intense didn’t lessen my spider veins or redness but maybe it needed more time.

I’ve tested many face serums. There are a few effective items but Nanoil is the only one that works brilliantly.

Let me know which product seems the most intriguing and tell me how you care for your sensitive skin. <3
